Like Red
Celebrating two inherited cultures and their shades of red.
Red –
Like the delicate grace of a dewy rose;
The striking flare of humid hibiscus.
The ripe basket of glistening cider apples;
The dense bite of glowing persimmons.
The saccharine swipe of a seedless jam;
The prickly tickle of chilli pickle.
Red –
Like the constellations of sun-flushed freckles;
The terracotta tint of fresh henna.
The summer treat of strawberries and cream;
The syrupy spirals of crisp jalebi.
The mighty tongue of roaring lions;
The saffron blaze of bengal tigers.
Red –
Like the tear-rimmed eyes of a loving groom;
The forehead kiss of a marital bindi.
The acrid smoke wafting through bonfire night;
The electric embers of dazzling Diwali lights.
The yuletide cheer of christmas mulled wine;
The gilded joy of a crimson and carnelian bride.
Red – like a bloodline fragranced
with dewy rose and humid hibiscus,
perfectly perfumed.
